The ForViva Group, are amongst the first landlords in the country to commit to fitting sprinklers in all high-rise blocks, is half way through a £5m investment programme, with work already complete across hundreds of homes.

The Group took the decision last year to retrofit sprinkler systems into all of its 17 high-rise blocks in the North West following consultation with regional fire and rescue services and fire safety experts.

A partnership with fire safety specialists Protect24 has seen tenants closely involved throughout the work mobilisation and installation programme so that they understand the importance of the project and feel confident allowing access to their homes to enable the works to be delivered quickly and efficiently.

To date, 100% access to apartments has been achieved, demonstrating the impact that the up front and ongoing engagement has played in facilitating the fast-moving programme.

The works to fit sprinklers to apartments and communal areas to 12 blocks in Salford and five blocks in Knowsley forms part of the Group’s commitment to ensuring tenants living in high-rise blocks will both be safer and feel safer in their homes.

The Group is building on its existing holistic approach to deliver excellent fire safety to residents, including Type 4 fire risk assessments, robust compartmentation, fire alarms, clear signage, fire awareness visits to homes and a prescriptive testing routine for fire equipment and sterile area checks, to ensure a truly safe approach.

The project is on track to complete by March 2019, with sprinklers already fitted to five tower blocks in Salford’s Barton Village and work now underway to complete seven blocks in Eccles and a further five blocks in Knowsley , all ranging between 10 and 20 storeys.

Over 1,300 tenants will benefit from the work once the final phase is delivered.

The innovative retrofit solution means that ForViva has been able to deliver an extensive programme of works with no disruption to tenants who have been able to stay in their homes while the works take place.
