Bourke Gardens Extra Care celebrates its official opening
Salford’s Ceremonial Mayor, Councillor Karen Garrido and Tom Jones, the first customer to move into Bourke Gardens, cut the ribbon to mark the official opening.
Group member City West’s new 56 unit facility sits proudly in the heart of Walkden and allows customers to live independently with peace of mind that support is there when it’s needed.
Guests took the opportunity to tour the building to see first hand the accommodation and range of activities provided. The £6.8 million extra care development will provide a lifeline for an increasing number of people and their families, bridging the gap between health, social care and housing services, allowing people to enjoy a good quality of life for longer whilst living independently in their own home.
Bourke Gardens is part of ForViva’s wider investment to deliver new homes to meet the housing needs of people in Salford. Since 2012 we’ve built 862 new homes across a mix of tenures and our future plans will see us build a further 527 homes across the North West by 2018.
